Her surname was changed legally at age 15, adopting her preferred name "Portia," named after the Shakespearean character in the play 'The Merchant of Venice.' Portia thinks that this was the most daring thing she has ever done and declared that the need to change her name was due to her struggle over her sexuality. Portia has made her debut in the film industry by appearing in the romantic-comedy drama movie "Sirens," in which she starred alongside Hugh Grant.
